GamesIndustry.biz will be boarding the long flight to Brazil next week to cover the happenings at Gamescom Latam in São Paulo, which is running from April 29 to May 3.
Expect a special episode of the newly relaunched GI Podcast, as well as articles over the coming weeks based on news and interviews from the show.
The Brazilian game developers association, Abragames, is hosting a showcase of 36 Brazilian games, including Talaka, a hand-painted title inspired by Afro-Brazilian folklore, which is being published by the newly resurrected Acclaim. Abragames will also be hosting a number of other initiatives, including the XDev Executive Bootcamp, business speed meetings, industry track talks, and the Abragames Pitch Arena.
“Brazil is entering a defining phase in its emergence as a global game development hub,” said Rodrigo Terra, president of Abragames. “Our presence at Gamescom Latam 2026 goes beyond showcasing standout titles – it underscores the strength of a coordinated national ecosystem.”
Elsewhere at the event, PUBG creator Brendan Greene will be taking part in a panel discussion, while longtime Rare composer David Wise will be performing alongside the Brazilian band Gameboys, as well as participating in a talk.
More than 400 games will be on show at Gamescom Latam, with the BIG (Best International Games) Awards taking place on the opening night. Finalists this year include Moonlighter 2 and MIO: Memories in Orbit.
Gamescom Latam was first held in 2024, and grew 30% to reach 130,000 visitors in 2025, although last year’s show saw some backlash in the form of complaints from exhibitors.
