GTA 6 leaker Cyberleek has returned to publish a 24-minute gameplay video that has left fans scrambling to issue spoiler warnings across the internet.
“Cyberleek,” as they are known, uploaded 24 minutes of unauthorized gameplay footage titled “GTA 6: An Extended Leek.” It reportedly contains a number of cutscenes revealing story beats, playable characters Jason and Lucia naked (in the case of Jason, full-frontal nudity), and a first-person camera for driving.
Cyberleek appeared to go dark after a spate of high-profile GTA 6 leaks in August, which sparked an investigation from Rockstar parent company Take-Two that saw subpoenas issued to the likes of Discord. Today’s development suggests Cyberleek, whether that’s an individual or a group, remains at large. It remains unclear how this gameplay footage, or any potential build of the game it’s taken from, escaped the confines of Rockstar’s infamous tight security.
Indeed, at one point in today’s leaked video, what looks like a developer menu is used to spawn a tank, which you wouldn’t expect would be possible in the launch version of the game. So, it may be the case that Cyberleek has enabled nudity and first-person gameplay in GTA 6 for this leaked video, but players won’t be able to when it comes to actually playing the game.
In August, Rockstar addressed the GTA 6 leaks, describing the situation as “heartbreaking” for its development team and “unfortunate” for fans. At the time, the developer acknowledged that its intended experience for players “may now be impacted by some spoilers,” but reiterated GTA 6’s previously-confirmed launch date of November 19.
Cyberleek claimed to be leaking material to highlight the death of physical media and the impact this would have on game ownership, while also charging fans to vote on further leaks using cryptocurrency in what was widely-seen as a money-making exercise.
This new gameplay video ends with yet another message that suggests Cyberleek wants more money for some mystery project, but it’s hard to parse.
“Cyberleek has a project,” the message begins. “Not Rockstar related. Gaming related. It needs expensive hardware. Months to set up. Years to run. Full-time. If you cannot trust the figure, trust the skills. You do not know Cyberleek. Cyberleek could be anyone. Even a liar. That is fair. No blame for doubt. Doubt is the correct default for an unknown. What is collected goes to the project. However much arrives, Cyberleek does the possible with it. That is the only promise.”
Cyberleek was heavily criticized for using GTA 6 leaks to push a meme coin. Analysis of cryptocurrency transactions in late August pointed to the GTA 6 leaker having “cashed out,” earning around $270,000 in the process. Every video posted by Cyberleek pointed to a website where fans could pay to vote on further leaks using the leaker’s own cryptocurrency.
Whether the culprit or culprits are ever caught may rest on how successful Take-Two’s legal team and the relevant law authorities are at forcing social networks or crypto exchanges to divulge any personal details they hold on those responsible.
