My Favorite Sofa Is Discounted for Joybird’s Semiannual Sale

After personally trying dozens of couches for our buying guide, and hearing dozens of additional testimonials from my fellow testers on the WIRED Reviews team, I have a lot of strong opinions. And not every couch I’ve tested has been great, but even out of all the great ones, very few have stuck around. My favorite couch I’ve ever tried, the Eliot Sleeper Sofa from Joybird, is discounted right now, as are many of its aesthetically pleasing siblings as part of the Joybird Semi-Annual Sale. The sale is slated to end on November 1, so you should shop now for the best selection.

There are a few things to keep in mind. Joybird furniture is custom-made, so unless something is marked specifically as “Ready to Ship,” it isn’t going to be dispatched as quickly as it would be from some other retailers. And while you can get 30 percent off site wide, the best deals are on best-selling items, on which you can save up to 40 percent. Most items are backed by a limited lifetime warranty and include free premium in-home delivery. You can order a free swatch kit to pick out your fabric, but unfortunately, it won’t arrive in time for you to shop the sale. (Joybird usually has sales around Black Friday, too, so picking a fabric now could be good planning ahead.)

Eliot Sleeper Sofa

The Eliot Sleeper Sofa is so darn comfortable. It isn’t so soft that you sink in and get locked there, but it’s soft enough that you can chill for hours. It has a built-in pull-out mattress that has received rave reviews from myself and every guest I’ve ever had. Over the summer in a heat wave before I had an air conditioning unit, I found myself sleeping in the living room on the pull-out for a week. Somehow I managed to get good rest, despite the fact that my living room was approximately 100 million degrees. (Note that my model is the premium Tempur-Response memory foam mattress.)

It has some quirks; the buttons catch crumbs, the armrests aren’t quite wide enough to rest a cup of coffee without some nerves involved, and sometimes I have to adjust the cushions. But I’ve taken enough fantastic naps on this couch that I can wholeheartedly recommend it, even if you don’t get the hot pink velvet option. It’s comfortable to sleep on when it’s folded up as well. After more than a year of daily use, it still looks brand-new.

I can’t speak to the quality of Joybird’s chairs, beds, or accent furniture, since I haven’t personally tried them, but I think the fact that I’ve kept the Elliot in my home since I reviewed it speaks for itself. If you need a furniture upgrade, this sale is worth checking out before it disappears.
