The stylish 2-player co-op game Orbitals is out on Switch 2 later this week. If you preorder a physical copy at Walmart right now, you’ll get a $10 discount. That drops the price of the physical version down to $39.88, bringing it in line with the digital version on the Nintendo eShop. If this deal works like similar previous discounts, once Orbitals launches on September 3, the deal will go away. So grab it soon if you want to save some cash on a physical copy.

Orbitals is a sci-fi puzzle-adventure game exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2. You and a friend play as the space-faring explorers Maki and Omura, who must venture out beyond a cosmic storm in order to save the space station where they live. The whole game is decked out in an eye-catching art style inspired by anime from the ‘80s and ‘90s, and it looks terrific.
This game is co-op only, meaning you’ll need another person to play through it, much like It Takes Two or Split Fiction. You can play locally in split-screen, or online using either GameShare or the Orbitals Global Friend’s Pass. Either way, you only need one copy of the game to play with a friend, which is pretty neat.
Starting earlier this year, Nintendo began charging different prices for digital and physical Switch 2 games. Now, physical games cost $10 more than digital games on the eShop. However, both Walmart and Amazon have been offering physical versions of most of those games for $10 less than elsewhere, eliminating the difference. In the case of Orbitals, Amazon has sold out of preorders.
September is packed with major releases. In addition to Orbitals launching on September 3, The Blood of Dawnwalker is also out that day (we gave it a 9/10 in our review). Then, on Friday, September 4, Onimusha: Way of the Sword comes out (we gave it a 10/10 in our review). And that’s just this week. Later in September, we’ll see the release of Marvel’s Wolverine, Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, Control Resonant, Silent Hill Townfall, Minecraft Dungeons 2, and The Witcher 3 Remastered.
It’s a crowded month because nearly all publishers with fall games have shifted their release dates into September or October in order to get out of the way of Grand Theft Auto VI. GTA 6 launches November 19, with preloads starting a week earlier. That game certainly looks great, but it seems like some other games could come out in November if they were brave enough. Alas, it’s mostly Godzilla and Barbie.
