A Pokemon fan artist recreated the rare Normal-type Pokemon called Dunsparce as a Bug-type, and shared their redesign with fans on social media. While only a few changes were made to Dunsparce’s design overall, others complimented the Pokemon fan artist for turning Dunsparce into something simple and creative.
Known as the Land Snake Pokemon, Dunsparce is a Normal-type Pokemon that first appeared in Pokemon Gold and Silver. As a rare Pokemon, Dunsparce could originally be found in Johto’s Dark Cave, which could only be fully explored by trial and error, or by using the HM move Flash to illuminate the area. In future Pokemon games, including Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Dunsparce made its home in additional areas aside from caves. Though Dunsparce can learn many attack types, it’s low speed and average physical attack and defense stats make it a strange Pokemon to use competitively. Dunsparce was given an evolution called Dudunsparce in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, which can be obtained in the wild or by leveling up a Dunsparce that knows Hyper Drill.
New Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Event is Huge for Shiny Hunters
A new Pokemon Scarlet and Violet event is proving to be huge for shiny hunters that are looking to complete their collection.
Although it is not a Pokemon that receives much attention, that has not stopped Pokemon fans from making art of Dunsparce in different ways. On Reddit, a user named Just-Drawing-Mons returned to the r/Pokemon subreddit to share their version of a Bug-type Dunsparce concept. Known for their previous work on turning Tangela into a spaghetti-inspired variant, Just-Drawing-Mons transformed the Land Snake Pokemon into a critter reminiscent of a bumblebee. While Dunsparce’s wings and shut eyes were left intact, two black antennae were added to the top of its head. The spikes on its chin were replaced with black pincers, and the blue colors on its body were changed to black.
Pokemon Fan Draws Dunsparce As A Bumblebee-Like Creature
Dunsparce’s yellow face was changed to a sharper shade to contrast with the bumblebee stripes on its back. In addition to the new colors, Just-Drawing-Mons gave Dunsparce two short stubs on each side for legs. Finally, its tail was colored a lighter shade of yellow to resemble a bumblebee’s stinger. No other details such as moves or abilities were given to the Bug-type Dunsparce. In the comments of the r/pokemon post, fans complimented Just-Drawing-Mons for giving Dunsparce a simple but effective makeover. One fan stated that a Bug-type Dunsparce would make a good regional variant in future Pokemon games.
While Bug-type Pokemon forms and evolutions remain popular with fan artists, Dunsparce fan art can sometimes be as sparse as the Land Snake Pokemon, making Just-Drawing-Mons’ latest effort all the more notable. Whether Dunsparce will get another form in future Pokemon games remains to be seen.
