Roblox will enable creators to publish their games on mobile, PC, and console through the Roblox Everywhere initiative.
Announced at this year’s Roblox Developers Conference, the company said creators will be able to make their games available as standalone apps on multiple platforms, with Roblox “powering the technology and services underneath.”
It’s not yet confirmed if standalone apps will be available on third-party storefronts. A Roblox representative told PC Gamer that it “will start with a select set of gaming developers and storefronts to test, and will share more details soon.”
By the end of 2026, players will be able to join games directly in-browser from the Experience Details page, without needing an app or installation. This feature will launch on Chrome first, with additional browsers to follow.
Roblox also announced that creators will be able to enable offline solo play. This feature will enter early access before its full release by mid-2027.
Additionally, Roblox’s engine will receive updates including an orthographic camera, animated image containers, direct sprite-sheet imports, and enhanced UI features and gradients.
An “AI creation layer” will be added to Roblox’s cloud operating system “built for the complexity of games.” The mobile, AI-powered Build feature will expand to Serbia and Singapore after its alpha launch in New Zealand.
Earlier this year, Roblox introduced agentic AI tools that allow creators to “build a game with a single prompt.”
Roblox also announced Roblox Wallet and Roblox Card to provide “creators faster, more flexible access to their earnings.” These features will allow creators to receive daily payments in their local currency and transfer funds to other Roblox or external bank accounts.
Roblox Wallet will be rolled out this December to independent creators 18 or older in the US, with plans to expand internationally next year. Roblox will also produce a physical card in 2027 for creators “to spend their available balance directly, anywhere it’s accepted.”
In its latest financial results, Roblox reported a 36% increase in revenue to $1.5 billion.
Despite higher bookings, the company faced a shortfall due to reduced per-hour monetisation among younger users in the US and Canada. As a result, Roblox shares declined by 70%.
“This underlying mix shift was compounded by changes in our recommendation algorithm, which optimises for long-term retention and is, therefore, providing more impressions for highly retentive games at the expense of near-term monetisation,” said chief financial officer Naveen Chopra. “And in Q2, the bookings impact of this trade-off on younger users was greater than we anticipated.”
Chopra told investors that while the company expects to “mitigate the monetisation headwind” by improving its algorithms with age-check data for better recommendations, “monetisation weakness is likely to continue.”
