The Best LEGO Dungeons and Dragons Set Is Out of Stock Everywhere

LEGO’s epic Dungeon & Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale set may not officially retire until July 31, but you’d be hard pressed to find in stock anywhere. All major retailers that carry LEGO sets, like Amazon, Target, Walmart, and Best Buy, are out of stock. Even If you wanted to buy directly through LEGO’s site, you’d be met with the dreaded “sold out” text. Still, if stock does miraculously become available at any of these retailers (sticker price is $359.99) or you’re lucky enough to find one secondhand, you’re in for a real treat.

Set #21348, contains 3,745 pieces.

The DnD Red Dragon’s Tale set is a gargantuan 3745-piece build and is an intricately designed recreation of Cinderhowl the Red Dragon from Wizards of the Coast iconic tabletop RPG. The castle build is one of LEGO’s best, standing over 19in. tall, over a foot wide, and a foot deep, and the brick-built Beholder is one of most unique use of LEGO bricks I’ve seen. It comes with six different minifigures; an innkeeper, Dragonborn, and four different adventurers that represent the four classic DnD classes.

One of the more exciting inclusions that sets this apart from other fantasy-themed LEGO sets is the downloadable digital Dungeons & Dragons campaign designed around using the bricks as your game pieces.

IGN’s Kevin Wong had the opportunity to build this set, saying “[t]aken together, LEGO Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale more than impresses on its own. There’s so many little nooks and crannies in this build, so many new things to see and explore at every turn. And the color scheme, with its bright blues and reds against the castle’s neutral grays, stands out and grabs your attention from across the room.”

Can You Buy LEGO Sets After They Retire?

Once a LEGO set officially retires, production of that set essentially stops. Some sets tend to stay in stock outside of the LEGO Store beyond their retire date, but the more popular builds tend to disappear from all major retailers before then. But that doesn’t mean they become impossible to buy.

Retired LEGO sets can often be purchased from eBay or third-party sellers on Amazon at marked up prices. You can also usually find them secondhand at a significant discount from those same places, though you run the risk needing to buy extra pieces that could be missing if you take that route.

Retiring LEGO Sets in Stock at Amazon

If you’re looking for other retiring LEGO sets, there are quite a few available at Amazon that are already out of stock at LEGO right now.
