Valve raises Steam Deck OLED prices by over 40%

Valve has announced price increases of over 40% for its Steam Deck OLED models.

The 512GB model has increased from $549 to $789, while the 1TB model has risen from $649 to $949.

Valve cites industry-wide component costs and logistical challenges for the increase. The updated prices are:

  • Steam Deck OLED 512GB: Now $789; CAD $1,129; €779; £649; AUD $1,199; PLN 3,279
  • Steam Deck OLED 1TB: Now $949 USD; CAD $1,349; €919; £779; AUD $1,429; PLN 3,879

Earlier this year, Valve stated that the OLED model could be “intermittently” available in some regions due to the ongoing RAM shortage.

The company also delayed launching upcoming hardware due to supply issues. Valve launched the Steam Controller on May 4, after announcing it alongside the Steam Machine and Frame last year.

Valve is the latest hardware maker affected by ongoing component shortages.

Last month, Nintendo announced price increases for the Switch 2, launched in June last year.

The platform holder revised console prices in Japan, the US, Canada, and Europe. In Japan, the original Switch lineup and Nintendo Switch Online subscription service were also affected.

Sony also announced PlayStation Plus price increases “due to ongoing market conditions.” PlayStation 5 prices will rise in the US, UK, Japan, and Europe starting April 2026, with further increases in South Korea and Southeast Asia from May 1, 2026.

Xbox increased console prices in the US for a second time last September. In April, it reduced Game Pass pricing following Asha Sharma’s appointment as CEO.

However, this reduction did not fully offset the 50% price increase implemented last October, when the service cost $19.99 on console and $11.99 on PC.
