The organisers of Nordic Game 2026 recorded a 6% increase in attendance numbers compared to last year.
More than 1,100 companies from 59 countries participated.
The event featured 179 speakers across five stages, including Liquid Swords CEO Christofer Sundberg, Embark Studios design director Gerardo Basurto, Adam Stjärnljus and Klas Eriksson from Wishfully, and Jennifer Svedberg-Yen from Sandfall Interactive.
Main stage sessions were streamed live on YouTube, Twitch, and Stream, drawing over 150,000 viewers.
“It was an incredible week,” said program director Jacob Riis. “The community has grown so much, and it’s fantastic to see the global industry showing such strong interest in joining us in Malmö.
“Ultimately, it’s all about the thousands of passionate people who gather here – attending the conference as well as organising great side events in partnership with us. Together, we’ve created what many have started calling ‘the Nordic Game week’.”
Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz, Riis described this year’s event as “the time for indies.”
“What we live on right now as an industry is the indies and the new way of thinking. Not so much about profiting and making money and being greedy about monetisation, but more about the art of games… wanting to do something that moves you as a gamer. It’s not about how much time you can spend on a product, it’s more like what kind of stamp it inflicted on your soul.”
Our features editor, Lewis Packwood, also attended the event, which he described as being centred on negotiating an era of difficult transition with too many competing games and not enough money.
Elsewhere, Arc Raiders won Nordic Game of the Year as well as Best Technology and Best Audio.
Nordic Game 2027 will take place between May 25 and May 28.
